Battersea Arts Centre, London – Wedding & Event Production
On Lavender Hill, seven minutes’ walk from Clapham Junction, Battersea Arts Centre is one of London’s most characterful wedding and event venues. The Grade II listed former Battersea Town Hall has hosted everything from Fleetwood Mac and The Jam to weddings, awards dinners and conferences. Architects Haworth Tompkins restored its Grand Hall, which won RIBA Building of the Year and blends Victorian grandeur with an exposed, industrial finish.
Peachy Productions provides wedding and event lighting, draping, sound and staging at Battersea Arts Centre. We design the production around the building’s character, so your wedding, party or corporate event makes the most of one of the most distinctive event spaces in London.
A Victorian town hall wedding and event venue in London
Battersea Arts Centre combines heritage features with the flexibility of a working arts venue. Original stained glass, mosaic floors and wood panelling sit alongside the Grand Hall’s raw, restored walls. That gives couples and event planners a choice of moods within one building. In-house catering, led by Head Chef Nigel James, completes the offer.
Event spaces at Battersea Arts Centre
- The Grand Hall: the largest space, holding up to 600 for a ceremony, 350 seated for a dinner and up to 800 standing for receptions, parties and launches.
- The Octagonal Hall: an original stained glass domed ceiling and mosaic floor. Ideal for welcome drinks or intimate ceremonies for up to 50 seated guests.
- The Council Chamber: wood-panelled, seating up to 160 for a ceremony.
- The Members’ Library: suited to conferences, meetings and breakout sessions.
Wedding lighting at Battersea Arts Centre
The Grand Hall’s textured walls and high ceiling come alive with the right lighting. We use:
- warm uplighting to bring out the character of the restored walls
- pin-spotting for the tables and the cake
- festoon or chandelier features overhead, so the room feels more intimate for dinner
When the dancing starts, dance floor lighting and effects change the mood of the room.
In the Octagonal Hall, we light the stained glass dome and mosaic floor so they stay a feature after dark.
Draping and theming in the Grand Hall
Draping is one of the most effective ways to transform the Grand Hall. Ceiling drapes, wall drapes and pleated backdrops can soften the room for a wedding, frame a stage for an awards dinner, or create a bold brand setting for a product launch or exhibition. Our set design team builds bespoke theming, from botanical installations to full brand environments.
Sound, staging and AV at Battersea Arts Centre
For weddings and parties, we provide:
- discreet ceremony sound for the Council Chamber or Grand Hall
- speech PA for the wedding breakfast
- full sound systems for live bands and DJs, with a sound engineer mixing live
The Grand Hall has a long history as a music venue, and we make sure your band sounds as good as the room deserves.
For corporate events, awards dinners and conferences, we supply staging, LED screens, projection, microphones and a technician to run the show. We also provide AV for breakout sessions in the Members’ Library.
Working carefully in a listed building
As a Grade II listed building, Battersea Arts Centre needs a careful approach. We use free-standing structures and ground-supported truss where needed, and protect the floors during load-in. Cable runs are kept tidy and safe. Access times and rigging are agreed with the venue team in advance. Our crew installs, operates and removes everything, leaving the building exactly as we found it.
