Chelsea ReConnect

BRIEF

To create a hybrid event which combined a live audience of 30 alongside an online audience of 200 + at Stamford Bridge. The event was to feature a series of panel discussions debating issues concerning how the events industry can bounce back from COVID-19 and interactive polls with attendees that will identify industry insights. Peachy Productions were tasked with designing the stage and delivering the technical production requirements necessary for a Hybrid event.

APPROACH

Lancing College had never attempted a live stream of this complexity before and where unsure how many of the parents might view. With a maximum audience size of 250 sets of parents we had a peak viewing of 125 unique viewers on average watching for 24.14 minutes.

The college were then able to send out a highlights real to all parents at the end of the day before all the children headed off on half term break, leaving a really positive feeling.

The School were overwhelmed with the favourable responses they received from the parents and particularly those who live abroad and have not and will not be able to attend in the future. This solution was so successful that discussions are already being had about how this could be rolled out for next year.

Finally the live audience needed to be able to view content, engage in the live polls and view, were necessary the live stream.

To deliver on all the above requirements we ended up with a three camera set up with two locked off shots and one operator. Mixing was through our vMix machine combined with a Black Magic ATEM mini switcher and a streamdeck. The audio was mixed with the live stream and this was sent to the hosting platform “Glisser” where it could be viewed online.

65” LCD screens were installed either side of the stage for the audience and 55” preview monitors installed behind the audience for the panel to view the live stream, the countdown timer and any pre-recorded content

RESULT

The live audience of 30 and a 260+ strong online audience were able to engage and enjoy a range of inciteful debates with the online audience spending on average 26:25 minutes watching.

Lucy Adamson who heads up Chelsea’s events team and was responsible for the event, commented:

“ Hi all,

Huge thanks for the support and AV yesterday. We are thrilled with the feedback we have received so far, so many positive comments.

Martin our presenter was impressed with the set up and said he’d been well looked after.

Thanks Phil for your advice on the event as a whole during our calls, thinking of things we wouldn’t have.“
